Guardian Top 100

MediaGuardian 100 is our annual guide to the most powerful people in the industry. Candidates are judged on three criteria - their cultural, economic and political influence in the UK.The list was takes in all sectors of the media, including broadcasting, publishing, new media, advertising, marketing and PR. Our ambition is to take a snapshot of the individuals who run or influence the UK media in 2006.

Panellists

Lord Waheed Alli

Lord Waheed Alli is chairman of entertainment content company Chorion, which owns the rights to Agatha Christie, Enid Blyton, Noddy and The Mr Men. He is also a non-executive director of Scottish Media Group, Paul O'Grady's TV company Olga Productions and online retail store, ASOS. The youngest peer in parliament when he was appointed nine years ago, aged 34, Lord Alli was co-founder of Big Breakfast and TFI Friday producer Planet 24. A former member of Labour's "kitchen cabinet", he is a working Labour peer taking a particular interest in equality issues.

Daisy McAndrew

Daisy McAndrew is the chief political correspondent for ITV News. She previously co-hosted BBC2's Daily Politics with Andrew Neil and presented the daily drivetime show for London talk radio station, LBC. She began her career as a researcher in the House of Commons and after a stint as a freelance political journalist spent two years as Charles Kennedy's press secretary. She returned to journalism after the 2001 general election, presenting Channel 4's lunchtime political programme, Powerhouse.

Jamie Kantrowitz

Jamie Kantrowitz is senior vice-president of marketing and content for MySpace.com in Europe. Based in London, she oversees strategic and media partnerships and events, as well as the brand and content acquisition for MySpace and its entertainment channels, focusing on music, film and TV. She was previously vice-president of marketing at its Los Angeles headquarters.

Richard Park

Richard Park is an executive director of Chrysalis Radio parent Global Radio. He joined the investment firm last week after two years as programme director of Magic, which he turned into London's number one station. A veteran radio executive, he previously spent 14 years at Capital Radio, working with the likes of Chris Tarrant, and became an unlikely household name as the head teacher of BBC1 talent show, Fame Academy.

Sarah Sands

Sarah Sands is a consultant editor of the Daily Mail. She previously spent a decade at the Telegraph Group, first as deputy editor on the Daily Telegraph, assuming responsibility for the Saturday edition, and later as the first female editor of the Sunday Telegraph. She started her career at the Sevenoaks Courier in Kent before joining the Evening Standard and editing the Londoner's Diary gossip column. She has also written two novels.

James Scroggs

James Scroggs is vice-president, consumer business of SpinVox, the voice-to-screen messaging company. He was previously vice-president of marketing for MTV Networks UK and Ireland, where he was responsible for all advertising, digital events, products and brand experiences. He began his career as a graduate recruit at DMB&B before going on to join Lowe Howard-Spink. As senior brand manager of OnDigital, he drove its relaunch as ITV Digital with the "Al & Monkey" ad campaign.

Janine Gibson is executive editor of Guardian Unlimited and editor-in-chief of MediaGuardian.
